Fiano di Avellino docg

Fiano di Avellino docg

An old variety of the Roman era, Fiano was called “Latin” to distinguish it from the ancient Greek cultivars. It is a vigorous vine that thrives in volcanic clay soils. The first traces of this vine date back to the twelfth century, when it caught the attention of king Frederick II and king Charles I of Naples, who sent 16,000 vines in Manfredonia to plant a royal vineyard.
