Aglianico is a vine, and a grape, with a long tradition. It is considered the most important cultivar from Southern Italy. It can be found in the area, strongly characterized by the presence of the Appennini Range, enclosed between three seas: Tyrrhenian, Ionic and Adriatic. Wines produced with Aglianico grapes are wine that age extremely well. Aglianico is considered one of the best red wines from Italy

Product Description

Production area: Montemarano CRU
Grapes: Aglianico di Taurasi 100%
Age of the vineyard: between 20 and 30 years
Vineyard position: South, with a North to South orientation of the rows
Soil: hilly terrains of volcanic origin, clayey, calcareous
Altitude: between 400 and 600 m. asl
Harvest: early November
Vinification: at controlled temperature (22– 26° C) with a prolonged maceration in steel, horizontal, rotating tank totally computerized. Frequent delestage to oxygenate must during fermentation
Ageing: 18 months in French barrique (Allier) and 18 months in big oak
Bottle ageing: at least six months

Colour: dark ruby red with garnet hues
Aroma: typical, intense and persistent with a hint of vanilla and liquorice
Flavour: typical, round and velvety, full–bodied with a slight fruit preserve back palate, spicy with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Very long finish
Food pairing: main courses and pasta with mushrooms, truffles and meat sauce. Game, read meats. Lamb and aged cheeses
Serving temperature: 18/20°C
